Thank you for commenting Chris. I too like the animal narrator perspective. I'm sure there will be more of those. I have intentionally made the locations "neutral" so people can imagine the spaces in their own ways. I did write a story (https://spawningfish.substack.com/p/the-man-in-the-moon?r=473d8h) that specifically uses a location in Northern New Mexico. I'll take your suggestion and see how I might more intentionally use NM locations in the future. Be on the lookout for those! :)
